The Grease film had been nominated for one Oscar and five Golden Globe awards and had won two peoples’ Choice awards. The original Grease play at Broadway had been nominated for seven Tony awards and had won two Drama Desk awards and a Theater World award.

Grease is being directed by Nida Butt, who has worked as an actor, choreographer and director for her company Made for Stage Productions since 2007.

Nida Butt further added, “Broadway is finally coming home. Made for Stage Productions is proud to have obtained the license for the Grease franchise. It is a momentous step and hope it sets a precedent for other theater companies as well to go the extra mile, but stage production legally in the future.
