Elahi expresses concern over deteriorating law, order situation in Punjab

LAHORE: Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has expressed concern over deterioration in all fields, particularly over the worst law and order in the province.

Addressing notables and former nazims and naib nazims in PP-110 here on Sunday, he said that the chief minister had no right to rule if 100 dacoities were being committed daily in every district of the province. Pervaiz Elahi said that Punjab was suffering from the worst administrative and economic crises while working of all departments was deteriorating as all powers were vested with one person.

He said that doctors were protesting, people were dying in hospitals and medicines were not available while the Punjab government was not solving the issue due to its false ego. He said that the Punjab government believed in destruction rather than in education and it was creating hurdles in the completion of the Cardiology Institute in Wazirabad.

During all tenures of CM Shahbaz Sharif, there was not a single project of people’s welfare like those launched during their tenure, Pervaiz Elahi added. He said that the fate of the people could not be changed for better merely through talking. He said: “People’s love and affection for our family has reached the third generation and this is our greatest asset and credit.”

He said that a new furniture centre had been approved for Gujrat at a cost of Rs 330 million. He said the centre would be equipped with latest machinery and European standard courses would be held in it, which would increase quality of furniture in Pakistan and boost the country’s exports.

Speaking on the occasion, former Zakat and Ushr Committee Gujrat chairman Khadim Hussain Shah said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi were the pride of Gujrat, who were rendering such services for the development of Gujrat, which people did not render even after coming into power. Former tehsil naib nazim Tahir Warraich said that the Chaudhry brothers were honour and prestige of Gujrat.

MPA Ch Abdullah Yousaf said that the MPAs belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz were comparing the tenure of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif with the era of Ch Pervaiz Elahi and appreciating the welfare works done by the previous government.

Ch Sadat Nawaz said that Ch Pervaiz Elahi would always be rendering meritorious services to Pakistan and its people. Former tehsil nazim Ch Zubair said that Ch Pervaiz Elahi had utilised capabilities of bureaucracy through better management for the welfare and wellbeing of the people during his tenure. Former tehsil nazim Ch Safdar Mumtaz Sindhu said that Pervaiz Elahi was an excellent chief minister and even in the centre his performance would be excellent.

Federal Minister for Human Resources Ch Wajahat Hussain, former provincial minister Mian Imran Masood, MPAs Ch Arshad, Khalid Javed Ghurral and Iftikhar Warraich were also present on the occasion.
