Eight more shot dead in Karachi

At least eight people were killed in different violent incidents in the city on Monday, police and rescue sources said. A man was gunned down in Aram Bagh area near Furniture Market falling in the limits of Aram Bagh police station. Police said armed men intercepted the deceased near furniture market and sprayed him with bullets and fled.

The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. The man looked in his mid 20s. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. In another incident a handcuffed body of a youth was found in North Nazimabad Block-S near graveyard in the jurisdiction of Shahr-e-Noor Jahan police station.

The youth was identified as Niaz, 20. Police said he was brutally tortured after being kidnapped. The assailants pumped several bullets into his body and dumped it at an isolated place. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. A man was gunned down at Bawani Chali, SITE in the limits of SITE-A police station. Police said Anwar Hussain 43, was shot dead by armed riders when the deceased was returning home after work in a factory in the area. The body was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.

A man was shot dead by armed men near Nazimabad Enquiry Office in the limits of Gulbahar police station. He was identified as Syed Qamar Naqvi son of Younus Naqvi. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The body of an elderly man, namely Munawar 60, was found from inside his house in Malir City police limits. Police said the victim’s hands and legs were tied with rope and he was tortured to death. Police said the deceased was a retired employee of a shipping corporation and apparently, was killed over personal enmity.

A man was killed at Bengali Mor in the jurisdiction of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. Police said Zahid 30, was on his way home after closure of his shop situated in the same area, when two armed men riding a motorcycle shot and killed him. His body was taken to ASH for autopsy. He said the victim had no affiliation with any political or religious party, while the motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.

A woman was gunned down in North Nazimabad in the limits of Shahr e Noor Jahan police station over alleged illicit relations. Police said the victim 27-year-old Saima, wife of Khalid, was found dead inside her house. He said the victim’s husband, namely Khalid in his statement to the police said that his wife had illicit relations with someone. Police arrested the accused and registered a case against him. Meanwhile, a worker of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) who got injured in firing in Orangi Town area three days ago, succumbed to injuries during treatment at Agha Khan Hospital. He was identified as Abdul Khaliq, son Shamshad Khan.
