Early announcement of Wage Award urged

PESHAWAR- Fauzia Shahid, Secretary General of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has expressed her satisfaction over constitution of the 7th Wage Board Award for newspapers employees and urged the government to take early steps for its implementation.

She was addressing a meeting of Khyber Union of Journalists at Peshawar Press Club. On this occasion, Sohail Qalandar, President of Peshawar Press Club along with his seven other colleagues joined the Khyber Union of Journalists. They included Ms Shahida Perveen, Rahat lhsan and lhtesham Bashir from daily Mashriq, Maqsood Ahmad from daily Surkhab, Kashif Tasleeni. Zahid Durrani and Shakir Ullah from daily Khabrain.

The meeting was also addressed by Central Secretary General All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation Pervez Shaukat PPC President Sohail Qalandar. KUJ President Fakhar Alam, APNEC Central Vice President Shaukat Ali Yousafzai and others.

Earlier, Fauzia Shahid welcomed the constitution of 7th wage board award and said “we are expecting a lot from it”. The PFUJ leader said that due to increasing, economic crises in the country, unrest was being felt amongst the workers and employees of newspaper industry. She said that the members of 7th commission should keep in mind the increasing prices of daily-use items, high rates of utilities and other economic requirements of the people. She was of the firm belief that through such steps, the board members could easily meet their responsibilities.
