DSJ South adjourns gang-rape case

Karachi: District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) South Faheem Ahmed Siddiqui adjourned, due to the absence of the defence counsel, the case related to the gang-rape of a girl in Ubavro.

Thirteen-year-old Nasima Labano of Ubavro who was gang-raped by 11 people, four of whom are still at large.

Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate (JM) South Nadeem Hussain Shah adjourned the case related to the ransacking of a Sindhi newspaper office against Mumtaz Ali Bhutto till August 29.

Mumtaz Bhutto, a cousin of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was arrested from his home town a day after he was booked by the Karachi Frere police station over an attack on a Sindhi newspaper office in Clifton and threatening its staff with dire consequences for not carrying reports in the newspaper.

FIR No 01/2009 was registered under section 147, 148, 149 (rioting and damages to public and private property), 506-B (threats for death with sharp weapons), and 109 (abetment of the crime) of PPC on the complaint of Managing Editor of Daily Awami Awaz.
