Demo against delay in arrest of gang rape culprits

HYDERABAD: Dozens of activists of the Pakistan Human Rights Development Organisation here on Sunday staged a protest demonstration against the police for not arresting an influential person allegedly involved in the gang rape of Nadra Perveen of Kunri Taluka, Umerkot.

The victim along with her relatives and human rights activists staged the demonstration outside the press club. They demanded immediate action and arrest of the culprits, including the Taluka Nazim Kunri. The protesters were led by Mahmood Arain, Ramzan Siyal and others.

The protesters complained that despite clear directives of the apex court to the Kunri police no action was taken against the rapists while the ringleader of the criminals, being an influential person of the area, and the Taluka Nazim was still at large. They alleged that the police were using different tactics to avoid his arrest.

The protesters warned of a stronger protest if the culprits were not arrested. Meanwhile, activists of the Sindh United Party staged a demonstration here outside the press club. They demanded action against the Tandojam police for not arresting those involved inthe a kidnapping bid of a girl, Mai Bhagi.
