Decomposed body of five-year-old girl found

KARACHI: The decomposed body of a five-year-old girl, who had been missing since May 12, was found in the bushes at a desolate place behind the University of Karachi on Monday.

The Mubina Town police said that the victim’s father, a wall painter, recognised the little girl, student of Class 1, by her clothes and flip-flops, adding that the body was in such an advanced stage of decomposition that it was beyond recognition.

Mohammed Riaz, a resident of Scout Colony in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, told police that his daughter, Aalia, had gone missing while playing outside their house on the evening of May 12.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Sources at the hospital’s medico-legal section told Dawn that the cause of her death was reserved till the receipt of a chemical examination report.

The Mubina Town police registered a case against an unidentified killer under Section 302 (intentional murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s father.
