Deal on IT Tower today (July 18)

KARACHI, July 18 2006: A deal would be inked between the city government and a consortium of companies of India, the UAE and Malaysia on Tuesday evening for construction of an IT Tower and Call Centre in Karachi. City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal would sign the contract on behalf of the city government. The 46-storied IT Tower and Call Centre would be built near the Civic Centre. It would be completed in two years. It would cater 25 per cent of its power needs through solar energy.

The building would have five floors for parking of more than 2,100 vehicles. Its five stories would be reserved for offices of the city government. It would house a call centre with 10,000 seats. It would provide jobs to 30,000 educated youth.The building would have four mini-cinemas, an auditorium with capacity for 800 people, library and health centre, a guestroom for 65 persons, 50-room hotel and other modern facilities. It would have its own shopping and food centres as well as swimming pool.–PPI
