DCM’s second LADIESFUND award ceremony on March 12

KARACHI: Dawood Capital Management (DCM) on Monday announced to hold the second LADIESFUND women’s entrepreneurship award 2010 on Friday, March 12 at Mohatta Palace Museum.

Speaking at a press conference, CEO Dawood Capital Manage-ment (DCM) Tara Uzra Dawood, who is also manager of LADIESFUND, said that the award is aimed to encourage the women for their creativity in business.

She said that there are five categories for the award including Woman of the Year Award, Momentum Award, Trailblazer Award, Entrepreneurship Idol Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. She said that these awards are for women belong to any occupation in recognition of their achievements in businesses and helping the other women.

She said that Woman of the Year Award will be given to a woman who has made an inspiring and impressive contribution to Pakistan and its image building, besides, highlighting the image of Pakistani women locally and internationally. The Momentum Award is for a woman who is mid-career with a significant impact of her entrepreneurship skills on the nation, besides for growing and expanding her business, she added.

The Trailblazer Award recognises a fresh entrepreneur making immediate impact with her innovative ideas and pioneering ways. The award is for encouraging the relatively young woman in her career and life, she said. The Entrepreneurship Idol Award will be given to a woman with a great idea, which could play a role in the country’s development but lacks its practical utilisation.

The LADIESFUND will give guidance to the award winner for making better plans obtaining angel funding. The award recipient will be paired with a Sister-Mentor CEO from abroad who will share her experiences in founding a company, Tara maintained. CEO DCM said that a special Lifetime Achievement Award will also be given to a woman entrepreneurship. The chief guests of the event will be former Naib Nazim Karachi Nasreen Jalil and MNA Khusbbakht Shuja’at.

The elite panel of judges for the awards will be Barrister Shahida Jamil, Frieha Altaf, Ameena Saiyid, Sameera Raja and Rehana Saigol to select the exceptional Pakistani women. These special women will be honoured with prizes for their outstanding achievements and vision as entrepreneurs.
