Daily Times editor welcomes Pakistan-India liberalised visa regime

ISLAMABAD: Renowned journalist and Daily Times Editor Rashed Rahman on Sunday welcomed the agreement signed by Pakistan and India to liberalise visa regime that had been under discussion for many years.

According to BBC, Rahman said the diplomatic passport is not a new thing, however, a 36 hours transit visa and inclusion of tourists, civil society and media categories are an important feature of the liberalised visa regime between the two neighbouring countries.

He said there was a perception that the liberal trade agreement would benefit India due to its huge economy, but such views were changing.

He said if such pace of normalisation continued, the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would definitely visit Pakistan in October or November.
