Dadu newsmen’s cases: SSP clarification

HYDERABAD- SSP Dadu issued the following clarification about the criminal cases registered against journalists.

He said “Two groups of Press Club, Dadu, were at loggerheads with each other for the last two months. Both of them wanted to register criminal cases against each other, the police did not register the cases immediately and referred both pzirties to various forums, including Deputy, Commissioner, Dadu, for reconciliation, but to no avail.

On 31-08-2000 due to tension between two parties, the cases were registered against both parties. The details of cases are as under: –

I. FIR No 190/2000 u/s 406,420 PPC at police station Dadu. Complainant 1. Gullan Khan Bhand (Journalist). Accused 1. Wali Mohammad Lund (Journalist).

2. FIR No 19112000 u/s 454,380,PPC & 14 H.O. at police station Dadu. Complainant 1. Wali Mohammad Lund (Journalist). Accused 1. Gullan Bhand (Journalist); 2. Dadan Bhund (Journalist); 3 Nizam Shaikh (Journalist); and 4. Mian Mohammad Pirzada (Journalist). “It is noteworthy that in both cases, the complainants and accused persons are journalists and both parties have been arrested as per law.

“It is wrong and not true as alleged in some sections of press that Dadu Police is biased or supporting one group. Both cases will be investigated on merit, as per law.”
