Cricket clubs, kids protest against Geo Super, Aag ban

RAWALPINDI: Popular cricket teams and clubs of the city here on Thursday held a protest in collaboration with the Civil Society Pakistan against the restrictions on Geo Super and Aag.

Protesters holding cricket bats and wickets chanted slogans against the government and Pemra. Members and cricketers of Raja Club, Shaheen Club, and Pakistan Club took part in the protest besides schoolchildren.

Addressing the protesters, Civil Society Pakistan president Azhar Mir demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari to remove the acting president of Pemra. He said Pemra was defaming the government. “The people will blame the president for the closure of Geo Super and Aag, if the acting Pemra chief is not dismissed,” he added.

Addressing the protesters, Gul Khan, Rustam Khan, Attaullah Khan, Malik Hamayun, Yasir Raja, Muzamil Ahmed and Nadeem Khan said President Zardari should immediately lift ban on Geo Super and Aag. “We will continue our protests on roads, if the TV channels are not restored,” they added. They said the next protests would be organised in front of the Supreme Court and the parliament that would be participated by the former players.
