CPNE expresses concern over abduction of journalist
KARACHI: Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has expressed concern over the abduction of senior journalist Rehmatullah Darpakhel. In a press release issued on Saturday, CPNE President Jameel Athar Qazi, Senior Vice President Qazi Asad Abid and others have termed the act an attack on the freedom of expression.
A group of armed men on Tuesday abducted senior tribal journalist Rehmatullah Darpakhel from a market in Miramshah, North Waziristan. He was associated with an Urdu daily Ausaf. The CPNE said it is the responsibility of a democratic government to provide security to journalists and promote freedom of expression.
