Couple killed for marrying against family will

Karachi: A couple was gunned down in the Baldia Town police jurisdiction on Monday for marrying against the will of their families.

According to police, Sirtaj, 30, and his wife, Khubana, 28, who hailed from Peshawar, had come to Karachi after solemnising a love marriage some four months back, as their family members were against the marriage.

Police said that Zahoor, the brother of Khubana, reportedly entered their home in Baldia Town No-5 and shot the couple dead. The suspect then fled the scene.

After hearing gunshots, the area residents rushed to the spot and found the couple in a pool of blood. They informed the police, who reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities.

Meanwhile, Naveed, 22, sustained fatal bullet wounds, when his brother-in-law, Jasim, after exchange of hot words, took out his pistol and opened fire on him. The incident was reported in Usmanabad in Al-Falah.

The injured was rushed to the Civil Hospital in a critical condition, but he breathed his last during treatment. Later, the family members of the slain reportedly took the body without fulfilling the legal formalities.
