KARACHI – Federal Minister for Communication, Babar Khan Ghauri has said that the absence of a merit culture in the country is a major impediment in the way of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country.He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Karachi Press Club Computer Institute, where he was invited as Chief Guest on Thursday. He presented a cheque of Rs300,000 to the secretary and announced 10 computers for the talented children of the members.

Earlier Chairman, Cordination group, Hanif S Kalia, the sponsor of the computer institute in his presiding address said that the IT was language of the 20th century and none of the professionals including journalists would survive without basic knowledge of it.

India was 100 percent better than us in the field of IT whose software export were more that $ 1 0.0 billion and equal to total export of Pakistan he added. In order to achieve IT development goal in the country, the govermnent, private sector, NG0s and the Media could play their positive role, he pointed.

Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Information, Salahulddin Hyder,in his speech offered his full co-operation to the members of club in all means.

He shid that the President t of Pakistan has responded positively regarding ownership matter of the KPC building.

Earlier, General Secretary, nursheed Abbassi welcomed the guests while Siraj Ahmed, Vice President of the KPC presented vote of thanks to the guests.
