Complaint centres for women in Sindh

Karachi: A chain of complaint centres for the assistance of women in crisis and for providing legal, medical and counselling services to them is being established by the Sindh Women’s Development Department, sources said.

The department is also setting up shelter homes for needy women, as well as hostels for working women in various districts. Sources said that the women’s development department has evolved a range of programmes for extending support services for the empowerment of women.

Over the past year, the department has also managed the Women’s Training Programme under Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. Approximately 600 women from all over Sindh have been receiving training under this programme, sources said.

Moreover, by March around Rs2.70m had been disbursed among 225 in Ghotki, Rs2.460m among 205 women in Jacobabad, Rs359,000 among 30 in Kandhkot, Rs4.040m among 337 in Khairpur, Rs7.626m among 636 in Larkana, Rs3.810m among 316 in Naushehro Feroz, Rs4.145m among 345 in Shahdadkot, Rs2.513m among 209 in Shikarpur, Rs5.143m among 429 in Sukkur, Rs1.50m among 125 in Mithi, Rs1.90m among 158 in Umerkot and Rs 1.90m have been disbursed as credit among 158 in Dadu.
