Committee for Protection of Journalists condoles death of freelance photographer killed in Charsadda bomb attack

KARACHI, May 05: CPJ expressed sorrow over the death of a freelance photographer killed in the suicide attack on Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao in Charsadda.

22- year old Mehboob Khan had recently started his career in journalism and provided photographs for national publications.

Three more journalists were injured in the blast. They were ATV camera man, Arif Yousaf Zai , reporter Siddiqullah of Daily Subah and reporter Ayaz Muhammad of Associate Press of Pakistan (APP).

CPJ Executive Director, Joel Simon in his statement, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of the young photojournalist. He also offered sympathy to the injured journalists. Simon said due to the unstable political scene prevailing in Pakistan, they fear more attacks on journalists. He requested the government to provide protection to its citizens and journalists.
