CNN’s bureau office

LAHORE – US-based TV network CNN is expanding its operation in the South Asian region by establishing its full-fledged bureau office in Islamabad.

This was stated by news channel’s Managing Editor Paul Cutler while talking to reporters at the Lahore Press Club on December 7. Vice-president Eslinda Hamzah and Mohsin Naqvi were also present.

Sub-offices would also be opened in Lahore and Karachi, Cutler said, adding the decision was taken after finding the operation commercially viable. He rejected the impression that CNN was biased in covering Muslims’ issues like Iraq and Palestine, saying there was a panel which monitored the coverage for ensuring a balanced coverage on every issue.

In Iraq, he said, due to security concerns Western journalists could not move freely. He, however, said he would convey Pakistanis’ views about “unbalanced” reporting to the CNN’s high-ups.
