CM orders arrest of people collecting Fitra forcibly

Expressing concern over the surge in criminal activities in the city during Ramazan, the chief minister ordered the law enforcement agencies on Tuesday to step up their efforts to rein in target killers and extortionists.

Presiding over a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House to discuss the law and order situation in the city, Syed Qaim Ali Shah directed police, Rangers and other law enforcement to take concerted and coordinated steps to curb target killing and extortion cases.

“Those who are forcibly collecting Fitra must be arrested. The Parchi Mafia must be eliminated.”

The provincial chief executive stressed the need for restoring peace in the city. He instructed the police and Rangers to increase patrolling and chalk out a security plan for markets.

He directed the DIGs and SSPs to send him a daily progress report on criminal activities within their jurisdictions. They were also ordered to properly monitor troubled areas and provide adequate security to consulates and other foreign missions. “The police and Rangers should coordinate with each other and cases against criminals need to be properly investigated.”

Earlier, ACS (Home) Syed Sohail Akbar Shah, IGP Fayyaz Leghari and AIG Karachi Iqbal Mehmood presented reports on the law and order situation.
