CM hands over cheque of Rs 20m to APNS president

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah Wednesday presented cheque of Rs 20 million to the president of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), Sarmad Ali, at the CM House here.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that present government fully endorses the freedom of press and media and had always extended support and assistance to press and media.

He said that APNS has also played an important role in progress of journalism and completion of APNS House is a big achievement of the office bearers and members of APNS. He assured the delegation that he will soon pay visit to APNS House and will meet the members.

President APNS thanked the CM for providing cheque and said that former president Ghulam Ishaque Khan had provided land for the APNS House while Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had provided funds worth Rs 50 lakhs for the project at that time. He also highlighted some problems pertaining to clearance of outstanding dues of APNS with regard to advertisement bills.
