CIPE organises ‘Women Leadership’ conference

LAHORE: Participants of the conference on ‘Women Leadership’ said that Pakistan is facing challenges in increasing the female participation in the mainstream economic activity.

These views were expressed by them at the conference organised by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) on Thursday.

On this occasion a guide for women entrepreneurs “How to start a Business: A Guide For Women” was launched by the Executive Director, SEFAM and Founder, Chairperson of Care, Seema Azia. They also said that steps would be taken for uplift of the rural women, which include proper training based on skill development so that their talent would be utilised in a proper way.

They further said that focus would be on the value addition and demand of the product in the market. Speaking on the occasion Seema Aziz said that Pakistani women faces challenge from social taboos, conservative lobbies, lack of access to education and information. All these severely destroy the ability of women to develop the leadership and participation in the policy making progress.

Seema Aziz said that her message to the women entrepreneurs is that never underestimate your capabilities. She also said that success of every business depends upon the commitment to quality and on the satisfaction of the customers.

Speaking on the occasion Country Director CIPE, Moin M. Fudda said that Women’s leadership conference will provide an opportunity to listen to international experts who will share their experiences on the concept of women leadership in Islamic countries, comparative analysis of women leadership in Pakistan, international model describing the role of business associations in Pakistan and international model describing the role of business associations in creating women leadership.

About the specific features of the guide book for the women entrepreneurs he said that the book includes the explanation of existing trends in women entrepreneurship and of key business concepts in simple language, relevant examples and clear business strategies and tips. He said that this book includes case studies of selected women entrepreneurs in Pakistan, templates required to perform various business tasks, information on institutional support mechanism, and references to recent developments especially in the large arena.
