Cinema house to be set up

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to commission construction of a cinema house in the federal capital.

The buildings of Nafdec, a public sector entity, and Melody Cinema, a private venture, currently remain unutilised and in-operational.

Establishment of a film studio and a state-of-the-art film laboratory in the capital city will also be taken up on a fast track.

Besides, a special fund will be established for artists and writers while vacant posts of cultural attaches will be filled in all Pakistani missions abroad to promote the arts and culture of the country at local and international forums.

The Federal Government Artists Fund with the seed money of Rs200 million will have renowned writers and artists in its steering committee.Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday approved the implementation of the decisions which he had announced during his address to the nation on August 14.
