China offers to invest in Information Technology (IT), electronics
KARACHI- China has offered to make investment in the IT and electronics sectors in Sindh Province.
An interest in this regard was shown by I0-member visiting Chinese delegation in a meeting with the Province Industries Minister, Dewan Mohammed Yousuf Farooqui here on Thursday.
The minister briefed the delegation about Sindh Government’s IT projects particularly the Indus Park to be established in Karachi and said that Chinese investment in this project will be welcomed.
He pointed out that IT future in Pakistan is very bright and many world companies are entering this sector with good investment.
He offered the Chinese to develop the Proposed IT Park on BoT basis and said Sindh Government will extend full support.
The minister said that being the port city and economic hub of the region; Karachi has very big potential for investment in IT sector, which is a priority area of the government,
The leader of the delegation, Liu Xuehang, Vice-President China Electronics Corporation said the delegation is here to study the prospects for investment in this fast growing sector and they have already visited the site for IT Park at Super Highway and have also met some of the entrepreneurs.
Liu Xuehang described his meetings in Karachi with private and public sector people as highly successful.
He briefed the minister about China’s role in the IT and electronic sector at the international level.
The Managing Director SITE, Rasheed Alam, briefed the Chinese delegation about the IT Park project.
Also present at the meeting were Secretary Industries, Managing Director Sindh Small Industries Corporation and other officials.
