CDGK to launch IT training for teachers from April 10
KARACHI: City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has decided to launch a phased programme from April 10 to impart training to more than 7,000 teachers in Information Technology (IT) and modern technology, estimated to cost Rs 55 million.
The training programme will envisage lectures of international quality by education experts. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal here on April 3.
It was pointed out that the objective of this training programme was to equip the teachers with modern day demands, IT development and modern technology, to bring up the students with a better knowledge and latest educational requirements.
Addressing the meeting, Nazim Karachi said our priorities included improvement in the quality of education, provision of educational facilities, imparting training to students in modern technology and training of international standard to the teachers.
He pointed out that it was for this reason that help and cooperation was sought from Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI)’s education committee for improvement in education and training system and establishment of a model school in every town.
Nazim Karachi called for paying special attention to construction and repair of schools to improve their condition, and added that Rs 232 million are available in this regard.
He directed the Department to provide details of schools where construction work is being carried out. He told the meeting that in the first phase, the CDGK is establishing one model school in each town, which would be equipped with all facilities including computer and IT labs.
Mustafa Kamal directed that a Project Director would be appointed for construction work of these schools to monitor all works of education works and ensure completion of all development works.
The Nazim told the EDO Education to appoint teachers for computer training in all such schools at the earliest.
The EDO Finance and Planning was directed to chalk out a clear policy with regard to development funds of educational institutions and told to ensure that these are spent prudently and timely.
He strictly asked the Works and Services Department to give preference to the establishment of 18 model schools.
The meeting was attended by the members of education committee set up by the Nazim, the education committee of FPCCI and officials of Education Department.
