CCPO orders tighter security at media offices

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Pervez Rathore has ordered foolproof security for media offices, the Lahore Press Club and all other important buildings in the city.

According a handout issued on Wednesday, the CCPO directed police officers to ensure strict surveillance of all crowded places in the city, besides ensuring the immediate installation of CCTV cameras at banks, money changers, financial institutions, patrol pumps, industrial units and all other places dealing in cash business in their respective areas. Rathore also urged people not to make prank calls to the helpline, as it would deprive potential victims of immediate police assistance in case of genuine emergencies.

He directed the Lahore Police to keep a close contact with the security personnel deputed at sensitive institutions, universities, schools and colleges and other important places and make comprehensive security arrangements there. The CCPO also directed Lahore Police to contact shopkeepers selling blue, yellow and red revolving lights, adding that they should be restricted to sell such lights only to legitimate departments concerned.
