Call to compensate Nawa-i-Waqt lose
SARGODHA- A joint emergency meeting of Sargodha Press Club and National Union of Journalists Sargodha was held and President Sargodha Press Club Sajjad Abbas Niazi chaired the meeting.
The meeting, through a unanimous resolution, strongly condemned the bomb blast in the Karachi Advertising Office of the daily Nawa-i-Waqt, resulting in an irreparable loss of precious lives and property.
The meeting was attended by a large number of local journalists including Ashraf Nadeem, General Secretary, M.Z. Zafar Senior Vice President, Mujahid Sherazi, Vice President, Shaheen Farooqi, Joint Secretary of the Press Club, Amir Afzal Malik, Resident Editor, Obaidullah Tahir, Executive Editor of daily Tijarat, Altaf Malik Editor daily Rifaqat, Ehsan Syed, President, lqbal Mirza, General Secretary and Syed Qaisar Yaqoob, Secretary Finance of the National Union of Journalists spoke on the occasion.
Speakers demanded of the government to take adequate steps to protect lives and property of the journalists besides providing proper financial assistance to the deceased workers of the Nawa-i-Waqt and due compensation for the damaged property.
The meeting also demanded an immediate arrest of the culprits and deterrent punishment to them.
