Cable operators hold demos, suspend Geo transmission

LAHORE: Cable operators Saturday suspended transmission of Geo News in various cities of the country including Lahore and shifted other channels of the Geo Network to last numbers on cable.

The cable operators also held protest demonstrations in various cities against alleged abuse of Cable Operators Association Central President Khalid Arain.

In most parts of Lahore, Geo News transmission was suspended by cable operators. It infuriated the viewers, and hundreds of people telephoned Jang Offices in Lahore to record their protest.

Geo channels transmission was suspended in Badami Bagh, Samanabad, Shadbagh, Krishnagar, Misri Shah, Railway Station, Gawalmandi, Shahdara, Barkat Market, Model Town, Garden Town, Waltan, Defence, Super Market, Sabzazar, Multan Road, Allama Iqban Town, Johar Town, Raiwind Road, Thokar Niaz Beg, Tajpura, and various other parts of the city.

Besides it, Geo Kahani and Geo Entertainment were shifted to last numbers on cable.

When Cable Operators Association Pakistan Central President Captain Jabbar and Regional General Manager Pemra Javed Malik were contacted to convey protest of Geo viewers and seek their version, they were not available.

The cities where Geo TV Network has been targeted include Gujrat, Gujranwala, Kasur, Shahkot, Bahawalnagar, Sheikhupura and various other cities and towns.

People termed cable operators action discriminatory and an injustice to the viewers who wanted to watch Geo channels.

In some cities, cable operators held rallies against Geo TV Network and burnt copies of Jang newspaper.
