Burney, Bhatt discuss peace, HR issues
NEW DELHI: Indian filmmaker and activist Mahesh Bhatt on Monday arrived in New Delhi to meet Pakistan’s former federal minister for human rights and Chairman of Ansar Burney Trust International, Ansar Burney in New Delhi and discussed with him several issues, said a press release on Monday.
Both Bhatt and Burney discussed the case of captive Pakistani and Indian crew members on hijacked Vessels by Somali pirates in Somalia and also the case of a Pakistani Prof. Dr Mohammad Khalil Chisthty (82). Dr Chisthty was recently sentenced for life after 18 years of trial in Ajmer and now detained in Indian jail with broken leg. Ansar Burney in this regard also met the members of the Indian Parliament, leaders of the Hindu, Sikh, Jews and Christian religions, lawyers and human rights NGO’s.
He also discussed peace and HR related issues in the region. Burney is expected to reach Karachi today (Tuesday).
