Brutal killings give Gujranwala shivers

GUJRANWALA: Three women including two teenage girls and their step mother were gunned down “apparently” over a matrimonial issue here in the remit of Baghbanpura Police in the wee hours of Friday.

Reportedly, 42-year-old Sughran Bibi, 18-year-old Kiran Shahzadi and 16-year-old Saima were found dead in the morning. Tariq, head of the family, along with his son had gone out of the city to buy sacrificial animals and both came back in the afternoon.

Tariq blamed his real brothers namely Ikram, Asghar Ali alias Kalu and Lala, sons of Khushi Muhammad for the brutal killings. He told the police that his brothers wanted the hand of one of his daughters in marriage for their sons. However, upon refusal they started negative propaganda about the characters of his wife and daughters and threatening kill them.

He accused that Ikram, Asghar Ali alias Kalu and Lala broke into his house during wee hours of Friday and opened indiscriminate firing on the family. Resultantly, his wife and daughters died on the spot and the neighbours rushed to the spot and saw the fleeing murderers. The police have been investigating the matter.
