KARACHI: Ahl-e-Sunnant Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) staged separate protest demonstrations here on Friday against sacrilegious film.

JUI-F Karachi held the protest day against blasphemous film and police brutality on protesters. The party activists and leaders staged several protest demonstrations outside mosques after Friday prayers in the city.

ASWJ held a big demonstration at Nagan Chowrangi, North Karachi.

On the appeal of JUI-F, protesters carrying placards and banners chanted slogans and torched flags of the United States outside various mosques to express their hatred and anger against makers of the sacrilegious film.

Earlier, in this regard, prayer leaders discussed the issue in the Friday sermons and urged Muslims to be united against such attempts.

Addressing protesters, various JUI-F leaders, including JUI-F Karachi chief Qari Muhammad Usman, said that the announcement of the US government for not legislating against blasphemy was tantamount to initiating a worldwide civilisation war against Islam and Muslims. They also criticised the governments of Muslim countries, particularly Pakistan, and termed them puppets of Western powers. They said that it was a test case for Muslim governments if they become united and left the slavery of so-called super powers.

They urged the Muslim world to be separate from the United Nations Organisations (UNO), if it remains failed to devise international laws against blasphemy. JUI-F leaders said that following the refusal of US president Barack Obama about legislation against sacrilegious designs, blasphemous sketches were reportedly published only due to the pro-Zionist policies of Western powers.

Talking about the situation after violent rallies, they said that those who turned the situation violent had nothing to do with the love of prophet (PBUH) and were not a part of lovers of Muhammad (PBUH). They further said that behaviour of the government, police and administration was depicting that the government was pleasing its Western masters through filing baseless cases against lovers of Muhammad (PBUH).

They demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the killings on Youm-e Ishq-e-Rasool and baseless cases that were filed against peaceful protesters.

In the meantime, ASWJ Chief Moulana Ahmed Ludhyanvi said while addressing the protest demonstration that UNO comes forward for each and every issue of the West, while it was seen disappeared when about 1.5 billions of Muslims across the globe were in unrest. He demanded of the government to take action against those who opened fire on peaceful rallies and killed several protesters.
