BISP, women support programmes: minister for quota to home-based women workers

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Women Development, Ms. Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto has said that all out efforts will be made for the approval of separate quota in Benazir Income Support and Women Support Programmes to facilitate home based women workers.

She was speaking on the occasion of youth convention, organised at a hotel Sunday, said a statement. She said women, particularly of those attached with home-based industries, are playing a significant role in elevating economy of the country.

The minister informed that women development department is going to launch a province-wide awareness campaign, which envisages display of banners and distribution of informative booklets among the women.

She said the poor women would be provided free legal assistance through women lawyers so that they can plead their cases in courts of law. The PPP-led government is striving for protection of rights of the women and practical steps are being taken to resolve their problems, she concluded.
