Ban on Sindh TV slammed

KARACHI: Pakistan broadcasters Association on Thursday condemned the closure of transmission of Sindh TV and said that it was the extreme action without assigning any reason behind it. According to a press release issued here, the PVA expressed this in its Board of directors meeting which discussed the abrupt and arbitrary closure of transmissions of the Sindh TV on cable networks nationwide. They said the government very proudly proclaimed the freedom that it had given to the press, and the electronic media, but the closure of Sindh TV was not consonance with this claim. On the country, they said, this arbitrary action was an assault on the media. PBA unanimously passed a resolution against the closure of the TV channel without following due course of law, and requested Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to intervence and direct the authorities to restart the transmission of Sindh TV immediately.
