Baloch missing persons: The mystery ends for two more families

Authorities recover two bullet-riddled bodies in Jaki area.

QUETTA: The bodies of two more Baloch missing persons were recovered on Thursday morning from the Coastal Highway in Jaki area, about 60 kilometres from Ormara town.

One of the deceased was a human rights activist and a member of the Baloch Students Organisaton-Azad.

According to assistant commissioner Pasni Masood Rind, some passers-by spotted the bullet-riddled bodies in the Jaki area, a desolate location along the Coastal Highway and informed the local administration.

The bodies were taken to the Rural Health Centre in Ormara for autopsies, where they were identified as Siddiq Edio, an HRCP activist and journalist and the second one as Yusuf Nazar, an activist of the BSO-Azad.

“Both victims were shot in the head and chest. Their bodies bore multiple torture marks,” sources at the health centre said, adding that the victims were abducted four months ago from a passenger coach near the coastal township of Pasni.

Siddiq, along with his companion Yusuf Baloch, was returning from a court in Gwadar to Pasni when two vehicles, seemingly the sort used by secret agencies, intercepted them on the main Gwadar Road to Pasni and whisked them away.

Cases for the disappearance of both victims were registered at the Pasni police station while family members accused security agencies of illegally detaining and then killing their relatives.

The families of both slain men had been observing a hunger strike for the past several months in front of the Pasni Press Club. A case has been registered against the FC and the case is in the Judicial Commission.
