Bahar Begum sees no future of film industry
Karachi: Senior film and television actress Bahar Begum expressed disappointment on Sunday over the current situation of the Pakistani film industry, saying she does not see any foreseeable revival of the industry as people are only talking and do nothing practically.
Talking to the media at the Karachi Press Club, she recalled the memories of her years when the Pakistani film industry was at its peak. “At that time people did not run after the money but had great passion for work. Now no one cares about being professional.”
To a question, Begum replied that all the people who belonged to the film industry were responsible for the current situation. “The world improves itself with the passage of time but we are still limited to the ‘Gandasa culture’.” She said she had not quit the film industry as an artist never retired.
“I have a 35-year relationship with the industry and have always worked with great zeal and passion. Today I am proud of my work but the situation has now totally changed and I cannot adjust myself in it,” she believed.
