Babar asks ministry to review ABC policy for newspapers
ISLAMABAD: Presidential Spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar has asked the Information Ministry to review the policy of the ABC for the newspapers.
He said that every single thing about the assets of the members of the parliament is shown in media and the newspapers, but the newspaper owners keep their several things secret during the printing of the ABC and such practice should not be carried out.
Babar expressed these views during a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Senate for Information in Parliament House on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Senator Kamil Ali Agha.
While strongly criticising the ABC policy for newspapers, Babar said that the 25-year old method of ABC is being executed. He advocated changes in the policy. He said some newspapers owners do not want ABC policy review as it will affect their interests. He said that thorough audit should be carried out during the ABC. The presidential spokesman said that why the information about the media owners, is kept secret. This practice should be stopped, he emphasized.
