Awards for ad agencies announced

KARACHI – The Pakistan Advertising Association (PAA) on June 7 announced the 18th PAA Excellence Awards-2004, for its member advertising agencies, for the period from January to December 2001-02.

Synergy Advertising got the top position with seven awards, followed by Interflow Communication with four, and Paragon Advertising with three awards. Two special awards were also announced for ‘Best Mass Medium of the Year 2004’, one each for print and electronic media, which were won by daily Nawa-i-Waqt and GEO TV Channel respectively.

Mahmood Parekh, chairman, 18th PAA Excellence Awards-2004, announced the awards during a press conference at a local hotel. The awards distribution ceremony will be held later this month.

The judges were M. Rashid Zubairi, Iqra University, Karachi, Ms. Shameim Kazmi, and Zia-ul-Islam Zubairi, journalist and PR advisor. According to the results, in the multi-media campaign category, grand award was won by Evernew Concepts for Tapal Danedar, royal award by Paragon Advertising for Engro Urea, and super award by Evernew Concepts for Skooz.

In the print advertising (colour) category, grand award was received by Publicis Pakistan for British Airways, royal award by Mass Advertising for Habib Bank, and super award by Transworld Advertising for Young Food Products.

In the same category for black & white, the grand award was bagged by Orient Advertising for National Bank of Pakistan, royal award by Synergy Advertising for General Traders.

In the television advertising (31 to 60 seconds or above) grand award was won by Interflow Communication for Peek Freans Butter Puff, royal award by Interflow Communication for Unilever Pakistan, and super award by Synergy Advertising for Reckitt Benckiser.

In the television advertising (15 to 30 seconds) grand award went to Paragon Advertising for Al-Karam Textile Mills, royal award to Interflow Communication for Nestle Milkpak and super award to Synergy Advertising for Reckitt Benckiser.

In various categories of corporate advertising, grand award in print ad Urdu went to Mass Advertising for Madina Enterprises; for print ad English to Synergy Advertising for Bank Al-Falah; for corporate brochure to Interflow Communication for British Petroleum; for annual report to Synergy Advertising for Bank Al-Falah; for wall/table calendar to Adarts Karachi for Hamdard Laboratories; and for promotional material to Bond Advertising for Unilever Pakistan.

In the public service print advertising (colour) grand award was clinched by Bond Advertising for The Citizen Foundation, while royal award for black & white in the same category was won by Ad group for National EPI Programme.

In the public service television advertising, grand award was won by Ad group, while the royal award went to Paragon Advertising for Al-Karam Textile Mills. The grand award in the point of sale material (consumer/trade poster) was won by Big Bang Communications for Pakistan Dairy Products; while grand award for medical/pesticides poster in the same category went to Synergy Advertising for Reckitt Benckiser.

In outdoor advertising, grand award went to Orient Advertising for Pak Suzuki Motors, and the grand award in package design was won by Synergy Advertising for Good Stuff. S H Hashmi, patron-in-chief PAA and Jamshed Qureshi, vice-chairman also spoke. They congratulated the winners and thanked the participants.
