PPF protests attack on offices of Nepal Republic Media

Pakistan Press Foundation has expressed concern over the attack on offices of Nepal Republic Media at Sundhara in the capital city of Kathmandu, on the afternoon of 20th December 2012.

Quoting information from Freedom forum, PPF secretary general Owais Aslam Ali in a letter to Prime Minister of Nepal, Baburam Bhattarai, said the unidentified persons entered the office and began mistreating the gatekeepers and the receptionists; then they attacked the Chief Editor of the Nagarik daily, Kishor Nepal, reporters Sudarshan Sapkota, Rupesh Acharya and Rajendra Gyawali and other staff member but luckily no one was injured as the police arrived on the scene.

The hooligans questioned the staff about photographs which had been published in Sukrabar weekly. The assailants claimed that they belonged to the Shiva Sena Nepal political party.

PPF condemns the press freedom violation in Nepal and urges the government to take action against the culprits and ensure the press freedom in Nepal.
