Attack on newspaper office condemned
HYDERABAD- Various political and social organizations have condemned the attack on Hyderabad bureau of daily Ummat and demand an inquiry into the incident.
The Hyderabad bureau of the daily was attacked, the staff severally beaten and the office ransacked.
The incident took place at about 8.25 pm at the office located in the Circular Building, housing the offices of five other regional and local dailies, including The News.
Hasham and Asif, staffers of Ummat, informed that the attackers were 8 to 10 in number and they were carrying sticks. After beating the staff with sticks, they damaged the furniture, including TV set, computers and chairs and tables.
The District Councillor (Nazim), Makhdoom Rafik, Nazim City Moinuddin Sheikh, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hyderabad and people from various walks of life visited the Ummat office and expressed concern over the incident.
