ATC accepts challan in Shahid Soomro case
SUKKUR- Kandhkot police on November 11, 2002 submitted the challan against the three accused Waheed Bejirani, Muhammad Ali Bejirani and Muhammad Siddiq Bachkani allegedly involved in the murder of Shahid Soomro, a reporter of a Sindhi daily Kandhkot in the Anti Terrorism Court of Sukkur and Larkana Divisions on November 11, 2002. The judge of Anti Terrorist Court Muhammad Riaz Rajput accepted the challan U/S 365-A, 302, 355 and 13-D and directed the police to appear in the court on November 18, 2002 along with other relevant records of the case.
Advocate Abdul Fateh’s junior defending the accused submitted in the court that the case was not fit for Anti Terrorism Court and requested the Judge not to accept the challan, but the court rejected the plea and accepted the challan. A large number of journalists from Sukkur, Kandhkot, Jacobabad were present in the court.
