ARY Digital to telecast Asia Cup

DUBAI – Dubai-based television network ARY Digital has announced its plans to broadcast the coveted Asia Cup 2004 to be held in Sri Lanka commencing from July 16, 2004 to August 2004.

The tournament, being played after four years gap, will also feature a much-anticipated rematch between India and Pakistan after the historical series played between the two neighbours in Pakistan last March.

The two teams will be battling it out for the cup along with 1996 world champions Sri Lanka and the upcoming Bangladeshi contingent alongside newcomers Hong Kong and UAE. Hong Kong will play their first-ever-official one-day international when they face Bangladesh in the first fixture of the tournament.

The tournament has six teams divided in two groups. Group A will consist of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong. The Group B will include Sri Lanka, India and UAE.

The tournament will comprise two round-robin stages and a final with a total of 13 one-days played in three separate venues – SSC, Dambulla and Premadasa.

ARY Digital would be bringing this action from Sri Lanka to viewers live around the world in the Middle East, Pakistan, UK, Europe and America.
