Arts council of Pakistan pays rich tribute to Mehdi Hassan

KARACHI: The Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi has paid rich tribute to the late Ghazal Maestro, Mehdi Hassan for his services in art sector by organising a two-day musical extravaganza.

Hassan’s original numbers were played in the two-day (Saturday-Sunday) musical tribute that also featured classical music performances of various notable singers.

ACP Karachi president Syed Ahmed Shah paid homage to the legendry artist saying that the ceremony was organised to hail Hassan’s services. He said Hassan’s voice and memories would live forever in the hearts of his fans all over the world. He termed Hassan’s demise an irreparable loss to the country.

Hassan’s son, Asif Mehdi was also present on this occasion. He shared his father’s memories and thanked ACP Karachi for organising the ceremony and audience for their love for his father.

Later, various prominent singers, including Bilquees Khanam, Ghulam Abbas, Karam Abbas, Shabana Kausar, Shazia Kausar, Shageer Khanam and others sang ghazals to pay tribute to late Mehdi Hassan.

A large number of Hassan’s fans, music lovers, and students as well as notables of the metropolis enjoyed the event till late night.
