Appointment of MD PTV: IHC issues notices
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued notices to Secretary Establishment Division, Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Managing Director (MD) Pakistan Television Network in response to a petition filed against the appointment of Muhammad Malick as MD PTV. A single-member bench of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui heard the petition filed by former MD PTV Mustafa Kamal Qazi, challenging the appointment of Muhammad Malick as MD PTV.
The court directed them to submit their replies within 15 days. During the course of proceedings, Shahid Majeed, the counsel for the petitioner, pleaded that the incumbent MD PTV Muhammad Malick and his wife are running an advertisement agency, which is a defaulter of Rs 7 million, so in such circumstances he is not a suitable choice to run the affairs of the state-owned television channel. He further pleaded that Malick was appointed illegally.
