APNS to chalk out strategy against ‘Papra’

KARACHI: The APNS has noted with grave concern that the Federal Government intends to establish ‘Press And Publications Regulatory Authority (Papra) on the same lines as Pemra, stated a spokesman of the Society. Kazi Asad Abid, Secretary General, All Pakistan Newspapers Society, has stated that the government’s intention appears to control and regulate the print media through a bureaucracy-dominated authority, which would become a lever to curb press freedom. The APNS has decided to hold its Executive Committee meeting on Monday, December 18, in Lahore, wherein the issue would be discussed and examined in detail and a suitable strategy would be chalked out in this respect.
