APNS reserves seat for woman

KARACHI: The APNS, at its extraordinary meeting held at Karachi Mariott on March 31, ’99, presided by Hameed Haroon, the chief executive of Dawn Group of Newspapers, adopted a resolution for a reserved seat for woman publisher. This was indeed a historic step and a most encouraging move taken by APNS members.

The newly-elected Executive Committee headed by Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, the chief executive of Jang Group of Newspapers, elected Mrs Masudah M Ahmad, publisher The Teenager to the seat for women publishers.

It is noteworthy that in the former executive committee of the APNS, the then president Majeed Nizami, had co-opted Mrs Masudah M Ahmad to this seat.
