APNEC, FEC discuss conditions in newspapers

KARACHI- The second and third sessions of the joint meeting of the National Executive Committee of All-Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC) and Federal Executive Council (FEC) of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) were held at Karachi Press Club. PFUJ President I. H. Raashed, Minhaj Barna, Secretary-General, APNEC, Pervez Shaukat, PFUJ Secretary-General Fauzia Shahid and others also attended the meeting, which was presided over by APNEC chairman, Abdul Hameed Chhapra, among others.

The meeting discussed in detail the negotiations of the office-bearers of the Jang Publications Employees Union with the management of the Jang Group of Newspapers regarding the contractual employees of Jang Group of Newspapers.

The meeting expressed concern over the conditions prevailing in, (Daily Amn) Karachi, (Daily Leader Karachi), (Daily Pakistan), (Daily Pakistan Observer), and (Assas) due to the non-payment of salaries and wages to the employees.

The meeting demanded of the Muttahidda Quami Movement (MQM), chief Altaf Hussain, to take cognizance of the attitude of the management of (Daily Amn) towards the plight of workers who could not celebrate Eid.

The fourth and fifth session of the APNEC-PFUJ executives, The separate meetings of the FEC of PFUJ and the NEC of APNEC to discuss organisational matters and a general meeting of the journalists and press workers will be held soon.
