I want to make an appeal to the electronic media in both the public and private sectors. I am making this request after viewing a report a few days ago on almost all TV channels of Pakistan that about 100 Hindu families from Shikarpur, Sindh, were boarding a train to migrate as they were being forced to pay ‘bhatta’ (extortion money) to some miscreants.

I believe that while such news highlights the persecution of minorities, their repeated showing of the report would only result in further demoralisation of people who are waiting to see some positive development in an environment marred with a recent spate of negativity.
