Altaf Hussain expressed deep concerns over the threats to the journalist’s community

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Founder and leader Altaf Hussain on Friday observed that the nation stood united for the first time after the 1965 war beside the Pakistan Army in a last ditch effort in protecting the country. He shared these views with Pervez Shaukat, the president of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) during a call from his London office.

Mr Hussain expressed deep concerns over the threats to the journalist’s community from the extremist elements and militants. However, he said that there was no need to be afraid from such terror threats.
In this time of unity, the media should play its role in consolidating the prevailing harmony among the nation against rising militancy.

The PFUJ president apprised Mr Hussain about the worst conditions the journalists were working in. Mr. Shaukat told the MQM chief that so far 84 journalists were martyred but the journalists were performing their duties undeterred and fearlessly. Mr. Hussain said that PFUJ and its affiliated Unions, Bar Associations, Labour Unions, Student Organization and other association should unite and safeguard the country. Altaf Hussain said that, he was already informed about the conspiracy against the country.
