AJK Assembly passes unanimous resolution against Nato attack

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Abdul Majeed has condemned the unprovoked attack by the ISAF and Nato forces in Mohmand Agency in Pakistan, terming it an assault on integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.
The people and the government of the AJ&K stand by the political and military leadership’s decision in this connection, he said.
He expressed these views while talking to the media after presenting a memorandum of the resolutions unanimously adopted by the AJK Legislative Assembly to the UN observer’s office along with opposition members and others.
“Pakistan Army is the guardian of ideological and geographical frontiers of the country and cognizant of its duties, and foes must not forget the significance of the Pakistan Armed Forces in a global war on terror, and such actions against our valiant forces may wreak havoc with the stability and peace of the world,” he said.
The AJK Legislative Assembly resolution says that the assembly unanimously condemns the unprovoked attack by ISAF and Nato forces on two Pakistan Army checkposts in Mohmand Agency, resulting in the martyrdom of 24 Pakistani soldiers. The House believes that the attack is not only a clear violation of territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Pakistan, but also a violation of international law, besides being detrimental to global peace and security. This step violates the mandate of Nato and ISAF in Afghanistan as given by the international community.
“The House applauds the stance taken by the political and military leadership of Pakistan and, hereby, expresses its heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families of martyred soldiers and prays for early recovery of officials injured during the attack. In this connection, this House fully supports the decision of Cabinet Committee on Defence, Government of Pakistan in the wake of the unwarranted action by ISAF and Nato forces.
“The House commends the sacrifices being rendered by the Armed Forces of Pakistan and reiterates the resolve of Kashmiri nation to stand by them and offer every sacrifice in the event of any aggression on the sovereignty, integrity and independence of the Islamic republic.”
