Agreement signed to set up portal, websites for Sindh govt

KARACHI, March 17, 2006: The Sindh IT Department would establish the provincial portal and websites for the Government of Sindh.

An agreement to this effect was signed here on Thursday March 16 between the IT Department and the Oratech Systems.

Secretary IT Department Yahya Waliullah and Aspy N Fatakia, Chairman Oratech, signed the agreement.

Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Information Technology, Muhammad Noman Saigal, was also present on the occasion.

According to the Project Director, Ms Tabassum Abbasi, the first phase of the project would complete after four months and it would be fully operational by the end of this year.

Later, Noman Saigal said that the cost of the project is Rs7.6 million. He said that the contract has been given to the firm coming up with the lowest bid and the process has been carried out in a transparent manner and on the basis of merit.

The adviser also said that all the relevant government documents and information pertaining to the public can be downloaded by the people. These would include domicile forms, PRC forms, tender forms, birth and death certificate forms etc besides, the vacancies announced by the different departments.

He stated that this would be the first ever integrated web information services portal for the Government of Sindh and its constituent departments and districts.
