Our Peshawar Bureau adds: The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for firing on the Aaj TV channel office in Karachi and warned that they would soon target other TV channels, if they did not change their attitude towards the Taliban.
“We had informed management of Aaj TV several times to include our view in issues related to us, but the channel had become a mouthpiece of the government and never gave importance to our stance. The channel had become part of the war against us for which it was punished today,” TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan said in a phone call to reporters.
The TTP spokesman said they had serious reservations about the contents of other TV channels, including Geo TV. “The Geo TV is going to be our next target if it did not change its attitude towards us. They have been using insulting language for the mujahideen and our fidayeen (suicide bombers) for which they have been warned several times. If the media did not change its attitude, the Taliban will be compelled to carry out suicide attacks against them,” he warned.
